The game makes long, annoying noises.
This typically occurs under Windows 3.1. Internally, Zentris for DOS uses the system’s timer to calculate appropriate delays for variations in sound effects, typically calculating delays of less than 1/100th of a second. At appropriate times, Zentris for DOS communicates with itself via interrupts. Windows 3.1 causes the system to occasionally delay interrupts for long periods, effectively slowing down the game’s timer by factors of 20 or more for brief periods. This causes a sound effect that should have lasted half a second to last 10 seconds or longer.
There is no workaround short of exiting Windows. If you experience this problem frequently, you will need to exit Windows and play Zentris for DOS from DOS directly.
